My everday skincare routine

Over the years I've learnt that skincare is very very important. Routines can get very over complicated. I used to have one myself but it just didn't work for me. I know people are probably going to look at my routine and think it’s very basic but it’s what works for me.

A little about my skin, I have very dry sensitive skin, it gets very dehydrated and can feel tight and taught.
My skin tone is fair with yellow undertones. I suppose some would class me as lucky as I’ve never really had breakout prone skin, but instead I have suffered with eczema break outs and reactions to skin products, make up etc all my life, which at times have been quite painful and unsightly.

The first product I use in my routine isl Botanics Eye Make Up Remover (£2.49) I’ve recently bought this make up remover as the last one I bought (Nivea double effect) I had to throw away as it hurt my eyes so bad!!!! There’s that sensitive skin again!! The Botanics one was much better. It has the two layer thing going on where you mix them together. It is a nice remover and says what it does on the bottle but I find it a little too oily for my liking, although this is probably doing my eyelashes the world of good! I’m not sure whether I will be purchasing this again. I use this in my evening routine.
Secondly product I use is Botanics Skin brightening cleanser (£2.49)I’ve had this bottle a while now as I bought two on my last purchase, so the packaging has changed. I love the smell of this cleanser and find it very gentle and hydrating, but it claims to brighten but I haven’t found this the case. Maybe it’s just my skin. I only use this in my evening routine, I don’t cleanse my face in the morning.

Third thing I use is good old fashion H20!!! I don’t use a toner I find no matter which one I use, even for the most sensitive of toners. None of them do it for me. They just dry my skin out even more. So it’s just plain old luke warm water for me and then pat dry. I do this after cleansing at night and also to refresh the skin in the morning and finishing off with a splash of cold to close the pores and try wake me up.

Next is the eye cream I use No7 Lift Luminate Eye Cream (£16.00)This eye cream is ok shall we say but I am on the lookout for a new one. I have quite hooded eyes and I am looking for something to try and firm the upper bit so to speak. I used to use an Avon one years ago that was a spilt formula and the gel bit of it was good but found it a waste of money as the cream bit I didn’t like, so if anyone has any suggestions they would be highly welcome. I use this morning and evening.

Lastly I use No7 Lift Luminate Day Cream (£23.00)in the morning, I love this it’s a really nice cream it absorbs so nicely into my skin and leaves a luminous like finish.

No7 Lift Luminate Night Cream (£24.00) in the evening, I also like cream it’s heavier than the day cream for obvious reasons. Love the way it leaves my skin so soft.

I think both of these creams are fantastic for the price. I have yet to try the serums in this range, just wondering if they have any different results to the actual creams.

Well that's about it for my skincare routine! I try to keep it quick and simple
So if anyone has got any suggestions on that eye cream dilemma they would be much appreciated

My Everyday make up

I thought the best way to start with my new blog is with the basics hence my everyday make up. I don’t own oodles of makeup but my collection is growing, slowly. This is my foundation make up and I will occasionally switch it up with different eye shadows or lipsticks but at the moment these are the products I’m currently using:

A good primer to create the base, not brilliant but let’s just say it’s done what it says on the tin. I don’t think I will be purchasing this again.  Price £12.50

esteelauder Resilience Lift Extreme foundation  shade 2N1 “Ivory beige"
Love love love this foundation, it’s one of the best foundations I’ve ever bought, so moisturising on my very dry skin. Definitely not for oily skin as it’s very hydrating.
Price £31.50

benefit erase paste
I use two concealers, firstly the bourjois for general concealing as I find it quite a creamy concealer and blends a lot easier than a lot of concealers I’ve tried. I find a lot of them very dry and difficult to apply. Secondly the erase paste, I can’t live without this concealer! It helps to hide my dark circles which I have always suffered with always, the bain of my life, it’s fantastic. Price £7.49 Bourjois
Price £19.50 Benefit

I’ve been using this for a couple of months now and I love it just wish there were more matt shades in the palette as shimmery shades can be very unflattering on older skin. Mega advantage is there staying power. I decided on “2” palette as the shades are a little more day wear than the original and a little more me as I’m a neutral kinda gal. Price £36.00

LOreal Infallible Eye Liner, shade “chocolate”
I also have the Night day black version. These eyeliners are great for lasting. I have tried numerous brands and liquid & gel versions but these for me are fantastic as my eyelid are tending to go more on the oiler side as I am getting older. Price £5.19

I am really enjoying the results of this mascara at the moment. I do have a lot of trouble with mascaras as a lot of them tend to irritate my eyes, so I find I move around a bit in this department. Price £10.99

Filling in my eyebrows is something I used to only do for a night out or special occasion but as I’ve got older my eyebrows have started to go a little sparse. So it’s soon become a regular thing and now my face doesn’t look complete without. Price £2.99

Natural Collection Blusher, shade “pink cloud”
This blusher caught my eye as it was a matt shade I can’t stand glittery blushers, they look awful on me. I must admit I’m not a massive blusher buyer. But I do like this one.
Price £1.99

And as for lipstick, well I have quite a few so it depends what mood I’m in. but saying that the majority of my lipstick/glosses are more on the nude shade scale, with the odd brighter one in there for good measure.

I don’t use powder as I have dry skin and it just looks bad on my skin I don’t like the finish it gives. Sometimes I use a bronzer, it depends where I’m going, it tends to be more on an evening out. I’m also in love with Real techniques brushes, what can I say, they are AMAZING!!!!! I’m currently working on owning them all.
And there we have it! That’s about it for now hope you enjoyed my first ever blog
